Wire Closet Organizer - Why Buy One?

If your closet is a mess, and you're looking for a way to get it organized quickly and efficiently, a wire closet organizer system may be your best bet. A wire closet storage system is relatively inexpensive, portable, and easy to install, which makes it perfect for just about any closet space that need to be organized.

Closet Shelving Units

Closet organizers made of wire don't cost a fortune - they can fit within most budgets. But don't let the affordable price fool you, they are not "cheap" in quality by any means. They are very durable and strong, and able to handle just about any storage need you may have. You can put books, boxes, and heavy objects on the wire shelves without problem. Just be sure not to exceed the maximum weight limit the unit is designed for.

Closet Shelving Units

You can buy separate components to customize your system, or you can buy a pre-configured kit with all the racks, shelves, hanging rods, and other hardware already included. If you only need a few shelves or hangers, you may save money by only buying the parts you need. But if you are going to install a complete system, you will probably be better off to buy a kit.

Many of the closet kits have racks with wire baskets that slide out as drawers. This makes efficient use of your space, and will save you money by not having to buy more expensive wooden drawers.

One popular type of wire organizer utilizes a vertical metal track or bracket that attaches to the wall, to which you affix shelves on standards at various heights and intervals. A desirable advantage to this kind of system is that you can adjust the height and placement of the shelves without needing to unscrew or disassemble anything. You can add or remove shelves as your storage needs change, and not have to drill any more holes in the wall.

A second popular type of wire closet organization system has fixed shelves. It doesn't have the brackets and standards that are adjustable, and must be attached to the wall with screws, anchors, clips or other mounting hardware. This type of unit is not as flexible as the track system because you cannot add or remove shelves, adjust spacing, or make other changes without actually unscrewing it from the wall.

Wire closet organizers usually come in white, black, or beige, although other colors are available in some units. The metal material is often covered with epoxy, paint, or powder coat for extra durability and good looks. Of course, you can paint it any color you like to fit your home decor and personal taste.

Closet organizers are available at home improvement stores, hardware stores, department stores, and other brick-and-mortar retailers. You can also find them at many online stores. Because of their affordability, ease of installation, and durability, wire closet organizers provide a very cost effective and practical way to get your closet in tip top shape in virtually no time.

Use Wardrobe Closets to Clean Your Teens Room

A great way to get all your stuff reorganized and out of piles without spending a lot of money comes from wardrobe closets. These simple, portable, and inexpensive closets can go most anywhere, hold most anything, and can do it for much less than 0.

Closet Shelving Units

Wardrobe closets are NOT closet organizer systems. Those systems can cost a significant amount of cash and are generally permanent fixtures in your home. A wardrobe closet was much more commonplace in our nations history. You placed these closets in rooms that may not have been designed to be a bedroom. Today's units can feature just about anything you want. Drawers, shelves, clothing rods, or baskets are all features you can use to customize the wardrobe to fit your need.

Closet Shelving Units

We recently remodeled an unused living room/dining room space into a bedroom for my teenager. We didn't want to build a closet into the room, as we wanted to later be able to restore the room to its original state. We used two wardrobe closets to give more than enough space for a teenagers clothes. Although if you look at the floor in his room, you'll swear there is not enough space.

Wardrobe closets can be found at most of the big box stores, or you can get them online. There's a unit available for every size, shape, and taste. I've found units that look great in kitchens with glass doors and shelving to show off items you store in the kitchen--from food to dishes. You can get units that are already completed and ready to move, or get them in a box ready-to-assemble. My screwdriver skills and ability to follow the pretty picture directions were about all that was needed to assemble the wardrobe closets in my teens room.

Organization is always needed in homes. The more you know where your stuff is located, the less time searching you'll have. No more digging through piles, just walk to the door and open. Wardrobe closets are a great answer for getting extra storage at a much lower cost. Check them out and see how you can improve your organization and save your wallet.

What Options Do You Have In Bathroom Vanities?

Bathroom vanities add a lot of character to your bathroom. They are an essential piece to your bathroom. They provide you with space to set your items on. They offer a place for your sink to rest. They also provide a good amount of storage underneath the sink. One of the best things that they can offer to you is that storage. While many are looking away from bathroom vanities, they should be considered for the options they provide to you. They are great for organization as well as to improve the clutter in your bathroom space.

Closet Shelving Units

Before You Make Your Purchase

Closet Shelving Units

Before you start purchasing your bathroom vanities, think about a few things first. The size of them is an important consideration. They can be a variety of widths from 18 to 48 inches, in 6 inch increments. You need to find the size that works well for your space and for the uses you will have for it. You will find them in a variety of types of wood. Some good options include oak, walnut, cherry and maple. Or, look for a lacquer that will help to show off the grains in those woods. To choose the right wood for your needs,

A Variety Of Options

There are a variety of bathroom vanities that you can select from including these four. One is a basic cabinet that can be mounted to the wall or it can be recessed. You may want to consider having open shelving vanity which can have recessed shelves, corner shelves or surface mounted options. Or, consider an over the toilet vanity. This is perfect for anyone that is looking for additional storage from limited space. Or, consider a closet type of vanity. This is good for linens, baskets and can be a built in or a freestanding unit.

Next, look at the style options that you have. A face frame vanity cabinet is one of them that provides the most traditional and formal look to the bathroom. A cabinet box can be used. These feature framed panel doors and hidden hinges, if you like. Or, consider a frameless vanity that is more like a European style. For a modern design in your bathroom, consider this. These are hidden hinged vanities and are easily adjustable.

Adding bathroom vanities to your bathroom can add a lot of storage and a lot of character to the space. Consider what they can offer to your room. You will be able to enjoy a range of benefits by doing so.

Closet Organizing On the Cheap

You've probably seen those expensive closet organizing systems that make your closet better organized than your kitchen. These are wonderful products if you are looking for top-of-the-line, but if you want the same results...organizing your closet effectively...but don't want to spend a lot, read on.

Closet Shelving Units

Closet organizing on the cheap means you are willing to spend time and creativity in exchange for saving money. Here are some simple and effective ways to save money on your next closet makeover.

Closet Shelving Units

-- Use what you've already got.

Fancy baskets, bins and shelving units exist to help you sort, store and stack items in your closet. Mismatched bins, woven baskets and boxes do the same thing. Assemble all the storage containers you currently have and take a good look at them. Which ones stack? Do they have handles that can be removed? Do you have odd pieces of wood or old shelves you can recycle in your closet?

Cardboard boxes and packing tape mean you have any size bin you need. Cut apart your boxes and reassemble to the exact specifications for your closet organizing project. Often you can pick up more boxes for free just by making a trip to your local grocery store and asking for their leftover boxes.

-- Think (other people's) used.

Check out your local thrift store. Sometimes you can find old dressers that will fit nicely into your closet and provide you with excellent drawer space. Make your own dividers out of sturdy cardboard and you'll make the most of your secondhand find.

You might also find decorator boxes or bins that will work in your closet organizing project. It's a good idea to take along your closet measurements to the thrift store so you'll know exactly what will fit before you buy and drag it home.

Another hint: while you're at the thrift store look for any old-time heavy duty hooks that would work in your closet. These large, metal ornate hooks are back in style right now and cost plenty when purchased new. Properly mounted, they can hold a lot in your closet and do so beautifully.

-- Speaking of beautiful...

Your closet organizing adventure is based on creativity and that includes how it looks. After you get all your shelves, bins, boxes and baskets assembled, it's time to decorate them. You can spray paint everything the same color for a coordinated feel or opt for a true decorator look by pulling together paint, fabric and wallpaper for an amazing custom look.

There are many excellent do-it-yourself books available to give you ideas and get your creative juices flowing when you arrive at this point in your project. (Check at your local library) One I like is "Easy Home Organizer" by Vicki Payne (published by Sterling Publishing Co. copyright 2007). She offers fun ideas for covering and embellishing cardboard boxes in the office and her ideas would easily translate to any cardboard storage system including the one in your closet makeover.

Be sure and line the inside of your bins and baskets, too, if necessary, to ensure a smooth home for your closet items.

Doing a closet organizing makeover on the cheap can be a lot of fun as well as a great way to save money. By taking the time to plan out your project and use what you already have on hand, plus supplementing with recycled materials you can end up with a customized project that looks great and gives you a closet space that works hard for you, too.

Small Condo - Big Style

"We would like a small house with large rooms and many of them"

Closet Shelving Units

While I have always loved that passage from Howards End uttered by the house hunting Margaret Schlegel, the reality of small space living comes down to careful planning, releasing your creativity and understanding the importance of a bold visual statement. "Safe" maxims such as painting it all beige or white and keeping it "uncluttered" in reality turn your space into a boring vacuum that also happens to be a small box, not the end result desired by anyone. The key to successfully Designing a small space is to maximize its best features (your view, architectural details or a spectacular piece of Art or furniture) and then carefully and minutely planning out your seating, colours, textures, lighting, placement and functionality. The inspiration for your space needs to come not only from who and how you live now, but also how you want to live in your space. Design your small space to act as the stage for the life you want to lead. This sounds trite, but the reality is that our environment effects not only our mental well being but also our relationships and how we perceive ourselves. Small spaces don't have to be a restriction to how we live whatsoever, they simply have to be carefully and creatively conceived.

Closet Shelving Units

I always recommend starting off by creating a " house book". This means printing off/creating a copy of your floor plan to scale and then collecting images of the items that appeal for that space such as lighting, furniture, Art, carpets, architectural details, colour chips, fabrics and so forth. Start off with the empty space in mind and think how you need to use each area and space within your small condo. Think how you can add multifunctionality to each area such as a dining space that is also a library with a hidden office in a Secretaire or Armoire; or a living area that has a pull out sleeper sofa (albeit a sexy clean line version that you would never know was a sleeper sofa and not the one in your Great Aunt's basement with the bar in the middle that destroys your back); or a guest room that acts as a Study/Reading room and craft corner. There are no limits to how you use your space and how many creative layers for that usage you determine. Once you think about how you need to use the space and how it best works with your floor plan you will need to think about the scale of your furniture and whether you need to have some pieces custom built for your space (or a possible DIY project for you or a handy relative). At the same time you need to carefully think about the ever present and crucial issue of storage. Just when you think you have planned for "enough", add some more and try to find furniture that has hidden or creative storage capacity as well such as ottomans with storage or furniture with hidden storage ability. One of the best solutions to storage and also creating a stunning focal point is having a floor to ceiling shelving unit built into your space for books, art, collections, a bar (with a drop down front) as well as having enclosed storage cabinets along the bottom course.

Another critical aspect for a small condo Design is colour. Don't be fooled into thinking your only option for a small space is an all white palette. While this can be a gorgeous look depending upon your architecture and view/natural light, do not think it is the saviour of a small space as it most assuredly is not. While having an overall softer neutral tone as your main flow colour (your predominate overall wall colour) will work beautifully, make sure to temper it with a few colour blocked walls of a rich, dark and vibrant colour that will add visual depth, interest and personality. For a recent small bedroom I had the walls with the windows and doors and closet painted out a pale raffia tone and the headboard wall painted Francesca Black by Martha Stewart with the trim work painted Oxford White by Benjamin Moore. This actually made the black coloured wall recede and added a sophisticated New York feeling to the space. This was then dramatically enhanced with a tall black leather headboard and a rich mixing of pale fabrics. All the other items were very small scale and I opted for modern boxy crystal lamps, an acrylic see through chair and dark small wood side tables with hidden storage. The end result being a space that was sexy, fresh and most importantly, inspiring to the owner. Never once does one think "gosh, this condo is small", what everyone always says is "wow, that is a sexy bedroom" and what else should a bedroom be other than sexy and soothing.

When planning your space and figuring out what you need and where things will go and how to maximize your storage and functionality, DON'T forget the need to add Drama and Grandeur to your space. Oversized Art work or large Vertical mirrors will add grandeur to your condo (one can never have enough oversized mirrors). The great Design element they add is a sense of space and roominess while NOT taking up any crucial floor space as it is all wall surface, thereby maximizing your actual square footage. Remember that while we want our furniture (sofas, chairs, dining table, side tables, credenzas) to be efficient, small scale and well designed, we need our few accessory items to be BIG, bold and brilliant. Never go with a small grouping of little "things", opt for the biggest and best you can afford thereby making an emphatic statement of who you are and what your space symbolizes. Whenever possible, opt for the best quality items your budget will allow so that your pieces aren't just for now, but for any space you move into in the future as well.

Something that trips up many people in designing their small space are the Window coverings. Make sure to keep them simple, efficient and always background. Window coverings in a small space should never be the focus of your room or Design. The view is important and your overall Design is important, but by making something that is very upfront you are in fact compartmentalizing your home and your view thereby making it feel and look smaller and boxier, something we never want to do with our small condo. I prefer to go with a simple Roman blind (similar to our overall wall colour) or wooden blinds painted out our trim colour. This will ensure that they are background and that the overall Design will have a gorgeous and clean line flow and feeling.

A few other Design elements to include whenever possible are such things as:

- Add shelves above doorways for both storage or visual displays
- Add additional light fixtures and upgrade existing light fixtures to make sure there is an even and overall light source that is controllable and their style corresponds to your Design
- Put glass shelves across deep-set windows for both storage and stunning displays of glass or art work
- Put low bookcases along a sofa back
- Always make sure to keep the flooring throughout a small space the same for visual continuity
- Run low bookcases underneath windows
- Line hallways with bookshelves
- Carve out shallow display spaces between wall studs for either open or hidden storage
- Always make sure to select sofas and chairs with plain or textured upholstery rather than vibrant prints
- Always run your shelves up to the ceiling
- Whenever possible exchange swinging doors for sliding doors to free up more floor space and give a fresher modern feeling.

Remember that inspiration comes in many forms and to keep and open mind and eye while Designing your small space. Don't be afraid to try something new or challenging. A small space Design needs to have a beautiful blending of both funtionality, organization, visual presentation, beauty and for me above all else a strong dose of your personality.

What Is A Mobile Closet

A closet is normally meant for storing items out if sight. In a home, the closet might also play a role as part of the overall interior decoration. The closet doors would normally be designed to blend in or enhance the surroundings. Customized closets can also be built to fully utilize free space meant for storage. Nowadays, master bedrooms would be equipped with walk-in closets as part of the room design. Home closets are usually part of a built-in set or are not that convenient to relocate. That is not the case with mobile closets.

Closet Shelving Units

You could say that there are two types of mobile closets: one that looks like a normal closet - doors and all, and one that just have enough accessories to fulfill the basic needs of hanging clothes. Both share the attribute of being lightweight and can be easily moved around.

Closet Shelving Units

The first closet type usually comes with aluminum frames and canvas covers. The lightweight frame makes it very portable and the covers provide a form of protection for items stored inside. This kind of closet is also known as a portable closet. The portable closet usually has a hanger bar inside to hang clothes off of. There are also models with additional wire rack basket at the bottom of the closet for extra closet. The portable closet can also come with wheels for added mobility.

The second type of mobile closet looks more like a moving clothes hanger. There are no doors or protective coverings on this closet type. There could one or two clothes bar for hanging clothes. The height of the bars can be adjusted to hang different types of clothes. Wheels normally come as a standard for mobility purposes. Some models will have a little space at the bottom for shoes.

There is actually a third type of mobile closet that is a combination of the previous two types. This closet type comes with a fixed frame but with no covers. It is an open concept mobile closet but with a little bit more of a solid build than the hanger type closet. This closet type also sometimes comes with added storage space like a wicker shelf unit for example.
